Ummm, yeah, I’m right near there. Ferrari World. It’s a theme park, race track, museum, and a cool place where stuff goes fast. Judging from the drive from the airport to my hotel, everyone here learned to drive there.
I’m a bit on the weary side. The 14 hour flight was actually only 13 (mostly downhill, I guess), yet I’m still a bit tired. I’m learning not to stress over things I can’t control (people, schedules, airplanes), yet I still let my brain get away with it sometimes.
For those of you wondering what I’m doing…I start orientation tomorrow as an Academic Vice Principal with the Abu Dhabi Education Council. ADEC is re-tooling all of its schools and updating the curriculum…MAJOR reform going on here. I am excited and honored to be a part of it. I’ll have more on that later.
As for today, I am thrilled about this new adventure. You wouldn’t be shocked to hear me say, “I never thought I’d be an international educator.” Now, I am an international educator…yeah, kinda exciting. (BTW-I know kinda is slang…chill, please)
Oh, it’s hot, too. It’s 10:30 pm and I was dripping on the short walk from the airport to the driver’s car. Luckily, it’s dry heat…cliche, and a joke. There is a nice warm breeze, and the people are SO friendly; that really helps.
I’m going to explore a bit before I sleep. Thank you to all you who have supported me through the last year. This hasn’t been an easy decision, yet it’s not an experience I wanted to speak of with “coulda, shoulda, woulda” talk for the rest of my life. (Again, slang–for the confused, it’s should have, etc–sorry, English teachers never die, they just grade away).
Thank you my mentors, friends, and family. I appreciate and love you all.
